Up high!
Synopsis
The piece is based on a very basic concept: a gradual and continuous elevation of velocity, intensity and amplitude of a movement sequence based on bouncing, hopping and jumping. This very demanding physical challenge gives the audience an enjoyable opportunity to see how each performer struggles and tries to expand their boundaries as well as to see how far a simple idea can be stretch and developed to become much more complex.

Cringe!
Synopsis
A group of teenagers confronts an old legacy left behind by others. They have only just arrived, and they have already begun to question everything. It gives them a lot of headaches. There are many bodies making a lot of noise. Lucky us.
On stage, someone has forgotten a symbolic house, a contemporary cave called Mother. It seems to belong to another time, filled with legacies and obligations. But tonight, everything is about to begin. And it feels so good; it does us so much good.
Adolescence is the urge to provoke a beginning. Plato’s allegory of the cave tells us that we must leave it in order to see the light; the allegory of Mother tells us that we must ask questions.
The stage becomes a space in which to claim inheritances and interrogate them. There is a lot of noise on stage — so many questions, and still so much to do.
The future is about to begin.

Synopsis
This project takes Portuguese identity as a living territory of memory, body and identity, bringing it into dialogue with the contemporary energy of urban dance. The proposal creates a dialogue between tradition and the present, between the collective and the individual, between inherited gesture and the creative impulse of the street.
On a stage that embraces the diversity of contemporary languages, movement becomes a bridge between generations and social realities, revealing how urban dance can express belonging, resistance, community and transformation.
Through a physically intense language, technically accessible and with a strong symbolic impact, the performance seeks to celebrate the encounter between Portuguese cultural roots and contemporary urban expressions, promoting a socially relevant and current perspective.
Choreography: Max Oliveira
Performers: 2nd-year students from the Dance course at balleteatro Escola Profissional
DJ: Pulso
Portuguese Guitar: Diogo Coelho

TUDO COMEÇA NUM PONTO
Synopsis
Drawing on Kandinsky’s idea that everything begins with a point and that, when set in motion, this point gives rise to a line, this creation translates that principle into dance.
A movement begins, travels through different bodies and transforms with every encounter. It echoes, spreads and constantly finds new ways of existing.
Just as Kandinsky’s point contains within itself the potential for every form, a movement can also give rise to infinite possibilities of connection.
Choreography: Raquel Rua
Performers: 1st-year students from the Dance course at balleteatro Escola Profissional

Desculpem o incómodo.
Synopsis
Before you heard us, there was already a theory for our silence. Before you knew us, there was already a narrative about our absence.
Tonight, we are here as a contradiction, as a question — matter that has not yet found a definitive form (and thank goodness!!! A fixed identity is sooooo boring).
There is a kind of quiet dumping — a silent deposit of everything that a previous generation can no longer sustain. Not only the crises, but their consequences; not only the problems, but the responsibility for solving them.
A process of transfer through which the historical, economic, ecological and emotional weight of a failing planet is placed upon bodies that have not even had time to establish themselves as the future.
We are the ones holding up an image like a mirror: and the reflection is not good, not seductive at all.
But we are here. Or we are still here. Free, light and loose.
Tonight, we make noise. Our bodies will create a more-than-perfect amalgamation. We are here to make holes in the ground, my loves, to jump so high that we touch the clouds with our fingertips.
We are alive.
“And being alive is the opposite of being dead."

ESTE GRANDE PALCO DE TOLOS
Based on King Lear, by William Shakespeare
Synopsis
“When we are born, we cry that we are come to this great stage of fools.” — it is through this profoundly existential reflection that Lear arrives after losing everything: his power, his family, his reason.
Perhaps this is Shakespeare’s way of telling us that, in order to see the truth with “seeing eyes”, we must first cross over to the other side — that of the mad, the blind and the beggars.
In this stage proposal, twenty-four young people inhabit an asylum — the great stage of fools that is the world.
Just as in everyday life, some were born to be Lear, others Cordelia, others Regan and others Goneril. Ah! And then there are those who were born to be the Fool.
But here, unlike in everyday life, no one quite knows who they are or are not, and everyone is everything and its opposite — “there is a little madness and genius in us all”.
Foucault wrote that psychiatry is merely reason’s monologue about madness. Well, in this asylum, only the mad speak.
It’s our little revenge.
Direction: Tiago Ribeiro
Cast: 3rd-year students from the Theatre course at balleteatro Escola Profissional
