Todo o Som é Matéria
Music Atelier with Henrique Fernandes / 6-12 years old
What does paper sound like?
Is it nice? Horrible or curious?
But what paper? A sheet of paper, paperboard or a cardboard box.
Todo o Som é Matéria is an introductory workshop to the universe of musical and auditory exploration, based on the exploration and manipulation of various materials common to everyday life; paper, fabric, plastic, water... An invitation is made to discover SOUND by actively listening to its origin and matter.
Graduated in double bass at the Escola Superior de Música e das Artes do Espectáculo, he develops an activity parallel to his classical training in the areas of improvisation and experimental music. He was one of the most dynamic drivers of the development of the Porto scene from the transition of the millennium, collaborating and playing with numerous improvisers and formations such as Mécanosphère, Stealing Orchestra, Três Tristes Tigres, Estilhaços, John Zorn's Cobra, Damo Suzuki or Fritz Hauser. In recent years, he has focused his work on the construction of new instruments and the creation of sound works that he develops collectively with Sonoscopia, an association of which he is a founding member and with which he has performed in several European countries, South America and the Emirates. As a creator, he focuses on the sonic detail of objects and materials, developing works where sound is reinforced by a strong visual component. In this area, the highlights are the pieces for all children INsono and Futurina, the luminous and electromagnetic exploration Draper Point or the underwater immersion Sublumia.
